Set up in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level domain is the single TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are known by. Initially, only third-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to secure john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered third-level domains remained operational.

You will be able to update the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our company if you obtain its EPP transfer key from the current domain provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been done. There are no particular requirements on who can register a .NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the idea behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
